NTK has a proud history in Parow North and the wider surrounding area in Cape Town, since being founded as Northern Rugby Football Club in 1951.
Corné Krige, Chester Williams and Hennie Muller are among the 23 Springboks to represent the club on the international stage so far, with several more playing for other nations around the world.
We have been a successful team locally, too, including winning five consecutive Western Province Super League A rugby titles.
The time has now come to reinvigorate the club as a focal point for our diverse community, retaining pride in our history while becoming a progressive, ambitious sporting institution fit for modern South Africa.
Connect Performance
Connect Performance provides performance coaching services to professional and emerging athletes, sports teams, schools and the general public.
Our coaching team provides adaptable, long- and short-term programming, with holistic professional and personal development on and off the field at the very heart of what we do.
The Connect coaching ethos is all about athletes developing a self-motivated, independent approach to their chosen sport or activity.
Decision-making, skill execution under pressure and team responsibility are vital components of our programming.
Our cutting-edge approach to movement fundamentals, sprint mechanics and strength & conditioning, meanwhile, is grounded in prioritizing power and movement over pure strength, as well as robustness against injury.
We are proud to play our part in running Connect NTK RFC as a focal point of the region regional ecosystem since 2024.
Connect Academy
Connect Academy began as a community initiative in the township of Khayelitsha, Cape Town. The young people from those early days have now emerged into the professional, adult world as a shining example of what is possible with a long-term, inclusive and compassionate approach to youth development.
We use a hands-on, holistic approach with those in our care, engendering a caring yet challenging environment that encourages them to be ambitious, independently-minded people. This is achieved through three distinct methods:
Our playing pathway supports those that display the aptitude and desire to become a playing professional in their chosen sport. With that dream not coming true for so many for myriad reasons, our non-playing pathway is essential in generating long-term employment opportunities in the wider sports industry and beyond. We also combine the two approaches above, giving those with the ability but not the immediate opportunity the best possible chance of sporting, professional and personal success.
Connect Academy’s primary commitment remains to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, with our ambition to prove that high performance and youth development are neither mutually exclusive, nor at the expense of long-term welfare. In fact, they represent an essential combination in a country still divided by inequality, with the next generation of South Africans at the heart of righting the wrongs of the past.
